The Adjunct Assistant Professor (RiseWell Curriculum Designer) will support development of the RiseWell intervention curriculum by designing engaging, interactive, developmentally appropriate instructional materials for eighth-grade students. Using the RiseWell intervention framework, core content, theoretical foundations, and lesson scaffolding established by the project team, the role translates research-informed learning objectives into student-centered lessons and activities that promote mental health, substance use prevention, skill development, and self-reflection. Working under the direction of the Project Director and in collaboration with project leadership, scientific teams, advisory councils, school partners, and other stakeholders, the position will develop a curriculum package of approximately ten 45-minute lessons, facilitator guides, student materials, instructional activities, and supporting educational resources. The work includes creating culturally responsive and inclusive content, designing visually engaging materials, incorporating stakeholder feedback, and aligning lessons with project objectives and practical middle-school implementation. The role contributes curriculum-design, instructional-development, and educational-engagement expertise to prepare the RiseWell program for pilot implementation, evaluation, and future refinement. Final deliverables include a complete facilitator guide with detailed lesson plans, activity instructions, scripted content, student-facing materials, and ten corresponding PowerPoint presentations. The position conducts research projects for Dr. Trenette Goings, Sandra Reeves Spears and John B. Turner Distinguished Professor at UNC School of Social Work.
