About The Position

The Adjudication Specialist is responsible for reviewing background screening results, including criminal history records, credit reports, and fingerprint findings, after a candidate has received a conditional job offer. This role conducts sensitive conversations with candidates to gather additional context, clarify screening results, and document findings that support adjudication and hiring decisions. Research and investigate FBI fingerprint results, criminal background results, credit history and/or applicant disclosures for internal and external applicants to make a consistent employment eligibility determination based upon FDIC Section 19 guidelines, regulatory requirements and PNC policy. Conduct individualized assessments to probe into facts by utilizing appropriate investigative and listening techniques; thoroughly review court documents and police records, research various external records, understanding unique state laws to identify any discrepancies or falsifications and determine the credibility of the applicant. As needed, partner with HR Legal, HR Business Partner and/or LOB executive as needed to make an employment eligibility determination. Document adjudication determinations and communicate those determinations to internal business partners. Follow all FCRA guidelines as it relates to pre and post adverse notification. Provide compliance or project assistance to the Pre-Employment Manager. Requirements

  • University / college degree with < 1 year of professional experience and/or successful completion of a formal development program. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sensitive, fact-finding conversations with candidates to gather additional context and clarification regarding background screening results.
  • Ask detailed follow-up questions related to criminal history, financial matters, bankruptcies, and other adjudication-related concerns while maintaining professionalism, objectivity, and empathy.
  • Independently manage a caseload, ensuring all candidate interactions and case activities are documented thoroughly and accurately within the CRM as the official record.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally through both verbal and written correspondence.
  • Ensure candidate outreach, documentation, case reviews, and adjudication activities are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
