About The Position

Our Additive Manufacturing Team is looking for an AMC Technician to join them. You will report to the Sr. Project Engineer and will have an onsite 1st Shift schedule in East Aurora, NY. This role involves operating and monitoring laser powder bed fusion equipment, performing post-processing tasks, preparing parts for heat treatment, performing maintenance, inspecting parts, and collaborating with engineering to troubleshoot and improve processes. The technician will also be responsible for accurately recording production activity and adhering to EHS procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in a technical manufacturing, machine operation, assembly, fabrication, or process-oriented production environment.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal, written, and computer-based work instructions in English, and ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to read drawings, work instructions, travelers, and parts lists and to accurately document work performed.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools, fixtures, tooling, or inspection equipment in a controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, dependable work habits, and the ability to manage daily priorities safely and efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational, technical, trade school, or equivalent manufacturing training is a plus.
  • Experience operating additive manufacturing, EDM, CNC, heat treat, blasting, or other precision production equipment.
  • Experience with post-processing of metal additive parts, including depowdering, support removal, deburring, cleaning, and surface finishing.
  • Familiarity with mechanical drawings, basic GD&T, nonconformance documentation, and rework or repair practices.
  • Experience working in environments with strict EHS, PPE, and material handling requirements.
  • Experience using MES, ERP, or work order systems to record production activity and inspection results.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor laser powder bed fusion equipment to produce builds per work orders, process instructions, and qualified operating methods.
  • Perform machine setup, powder loading, build file execution, and required operator training or in-house certification activities.
  • Perform post-processing tasks including EDM wire cutoff, depowdering, media or blast cleaning, solvent cleaning, support removal, cutting, grinding, deburring, polishing, and other finishing operations required by drawings and process instructions.
  • Prepare parts for heat treatment and complete required post-heat-treatment cleaning and finishing steps.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine equipment checks on LPBF and EDM equipment, complete maintenance logs, and escalate issues to maintenance or engineering as needed.
  • Inspect parts during and after processing, identify and document nonconformances, and support rework or repair in accordance with engineering instructions.
  • Work from drawings, work instructions, parts lists, and schedules while communicating production status, issues, and results clearly and accurately.
  • Manage daily production priorities to meet throughput and delivery targets in coordination with production leads and planners.
  • Collaborate with engineering to troubleshoot build failures, refine parameters, improve fixturing, and implement production process improvements.
  • Accurately record production activity, inspection data, and maintenance information in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) or work order system.
  • Follow all EHS and site-specific procedures for handling metal powders, waste, PPE, and material handling.
