Additive Manufacturing Specialist - Post Processing

Seurat TechnologiesWilmington, MA
$95,000 - $110,000Onsite

About The Position

Seurat is transforming manufacturing for people and our planet by delivering a scalable additive manufacturing solution to fundamentally change how products are made. Seurat’s proprietary Area Printing process, developed at Lawrence Livermore National Labs (LLNL), allows metal components to be manufactured at price points and quality levels that compete directly with conventional manufacturing techniques, enabling the reshoring of supply chains and promoting the decarbonization of industry. Seurat has raised over $180M and is backed by leading venture partners like Capricorn, NVentures (NVIDIA), True Ventures, General Motors Ventures, Denso, Porsche SE, SIP global partners, Honda, Xerox Ventures/Myriad Venture Partners, Cubit Capital, Siemens Energy, and Maniv Mobility. General Description: Seurat Technologies is seeking a hands-on Additive Manufacturing Specialist – Post-Processing to oversee revolutionary, proprietary Area Printing (LPBF) workflows, part post-processing, and quality control. The ideal candidate demonstrates comprehensive capabilities across the full lifecycle of printed metal components, including: Collaborating on part placement strategies and print layout designs that streamline downstream removal and post-processing, Developing standardized, high-throughput post-processing workflows that prevent plate backlogs and accelerate turnaround times, Operating thermal processing equipment, including furnaces for stress relief and heat treating, Utilizing precision measurement tools—such as desktop Keyence CMMs, Keyence imaging systems, standalone CMMs, tensile testing rigs, and Archimedes density measurement, Running shop equipment (CNC machines, wire EDMs, and band saws) to separate parts from build plates, perform support structure removal and part finishing, and Executing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting for post-processing and shop equipment.

Requirements

  • B.S. or above in engineering disciplines.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or R&D in related fields.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work effectively with a cross functional and multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Travel up to 10%.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of working in commercial metal AM manufacturing facilities (service bureaus, manufacturing divisions, laboratories, etc.) is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) based metal printing is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in laser welding of commonly used metal (ferrous and nonferrous) materials.
  • Experience in designing and operating sophisticated industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & Optimize Workflows: Establish high-throughput post-processing and plate management workflows that eliminate production bottlenecks and accelerate turnaround times.
  • Layout Strategy & Part Removal: Collaborate on build layout and part placement strategies to streamline downstream part removal, support structure removal, and surface finishing.
  • Thermal Processing: Operate thermal processing equipment, including furnaces for stress relief and heat treating of additively manufactured components.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate traditional shop machinery, including CNC tools, wire EDMs, and band saws, to execute precise support removal and part separation.
  • Metrology & Testing: Utilize precision measurement systems—such as Keyence desktop CMMs, Keyence optical imaging, standalone CMMs, tensile testing rigs, and Archimedes density systems—to inspect and validate finished parts.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting tasks on thermal, post-processing, and ancillary shop equipment.
  • Team Guidance: Guide technicians on standard post-processing procedures, safety protocols, and quality control checks for LPBF/Area Printing components.
