Chromalloy is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Group. This role will focus on laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) material development and end-use component manufacturing, while also supporting laser powder welding repair applications for both New Product Introduction (NPI) and optimization/troubleshooting of legacy repairs. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise with a collaborative mindset and a passion for mentoring. Due to government regulation only US persons (U.S. citizen, U.S. naturalized citizen, U.S. permanent resident, holder of U.S. approved political asylee or refugee status) may be considered for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in additive manufacturing, preferably LPBF.
  • Hands-on experience with laser powder welding and repair applications.
  • Strong understanding of AM process parameters, material properties, and qualification standards.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools and metallurgical analysis techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities with excellent communication

Responsibilities

  • Lead material development and process optimization for LPBF components.
  • Support design-for-additive initiatives and qualification of end-use parts.
  • Contribute to development and improvement of laser powder welding techniques.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize legacy repair processes to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate on cladding and additive components for new PMA parts and repair offerings.
  • Drive process improvements and implement best practices across manufacturing sites.
  • Engage with and mentor junior engineers in laser-based welding and additive technologies.
  • Promote technical excellence and workforce upskilling.
