About The Position

The Additive Manufacturing (A.M.) Engineer II will play a key role in the development, optimization, and implementation of advanced electronic, electrical, and RF/Microwave components and systems, supporting the production of increasingly complex product solutions. This individual will have deep technical expertise and will take on more independent responsibilities than an entry-level engineer. You will support the development of materials and processes used in our 3D printing operations, manage the printing tasks, debug complex hardware issues, and refine print file manipulations using a variety of software tools. You will work both individually and with a team of engineers, scientists, program management, and material suppliers to meet technical milestones and production goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in additive manufacturing, particularly in the context of electronic/RF components, subsystems, and systems.
  • Advanced understanding of A.M. printing technologies, especially those driven by inkjet or micro pen dispensers.
  • Proven track record of contributing to complex DoD or government contract projects, including R&D efforts for new product development.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting A.M. printers, debugging hardware/software issues, and optimizing print processes for complex designs.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, processes, and technologies in additive manufacturing, particularly as applied to RF/Microwave and electronic components.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional team environment, contributing to both technical and project management tasks.
  • Proficient in technical writing, including documentation of designs, test results, and proposals.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard design and analysis software tools.
  • Ability to contribute to the writing of whitepapers, proposals, and technical reports for securing contracts or business opportunities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required
  • At least 2 years’ experience in additive manufacturing engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or additional certifications in Additive Manufacturing or related disciplines is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the analysis, design, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic/RF components, subsystems, and systems, with a particular focus on DoD applications and other advanced technologies.
  • Operate and optimize additive manufacturing (A.M.) printers, particularly those driven by inkjet or micro pen dispensers, to create high-precision components.
  • Independently manage and prioritize multiple tasks and programs, ensuring alignment with project timelines and milestones.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of electronics fundamentals to troubleshoot complex A.M. hardware and software issues, ensuring high-quality, defect-free components.
  • Lead or contribute to collaborative efforts with ARA’s team of engineers, management, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders to develop competitive and innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Participate in technical discussions and contribute to white papers, proposals, and demonstrations for the acquisition of new business opportunities, particularly in R&D contracts for DoD and government agencies.
  • Define technical requirements, work plans, and processes, ensuring effective solutions to meet customer needs and company goals.
  • Monitor and manage the progress of technical tasks, ensuring alignment with project objectives, and adjust as necessary to meet deadlines and performance standards.
  • Assist in the development of work authorizations to guide and structure the completion of tasks.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and challenges in the A.M. process or product performance and develop, test, and implement solutions.
  • Continuously stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in additive manufacturing and electronics/RF components, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the improvement and refinement of materials and processes in A.M. systems to enhance product performance and reduce production time/cost.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers, offering technical guidance and sharing knowledge to help them grow.
  • Travel as necessary to meet with customers, vendors, or attend conferences and trade shows.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of design efforts, analysis, troubleshooting, and test results, and effectively present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
