About The Position

The Addictions Worker at Suntrac Wellness and Addiction Treatment Centre delivers concurrent-informed substance use services to individuals aged nineteen (19) years and older with substance use concerns. In collaboration with service-users and the Suntrac team, the Addiction Worker will provide intake and assessment, case management, group facilitation, and consultative and educational services to service users, using an evidence-informed perspective. All staff will work in accordance with Mission Services Vision to create a healthy and resilient community.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelors’ degree (or equivalent) in Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Studies, Concurrent Disorders, or a related human service field
  • Minimum two (2) years (or equivalent) of professionally supervised work in the delivery of services in substance use and/or mental health is preferred
  • CCAC certified or working towards obtaining accreditation with CACCF is an asset
  • Ability to work with individuals of diverse and marginalized populations
  • Familiarity with harm reduction framework with substance use and mental health.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution with distress individuals
  • Understanding of working from a person-centered trauma-informed perspective
  • Ability to assess for harmful substance use and suicide risk
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Must be a confident decision-maker
  • Ability to work remotely and in office to provide virtual and in-person services
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Two-Step Tuberculosis Skin Test

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate competence in assessment, case management, group facilitation, and documentation practices in service-user care
  • Promote the efficient and effective daily operation of the program within the guidelines and policies of Mission Services, and in consultation with the Director and Manager of the program
  • Demonstrate person-centered and trauma-informed care
  • Provide evidence-based practice in the treatment of substance use and mental health
  • Assess for harmful substance use and suicide risk and support service users in risk management planning
  • Assess service users for concurrent mental health issues
  • Liaise with community resources in health, justice, education, social services, and provide referrals as needed
  • Be an active ambassador for Mission Services Addiction Services
  • Uphold Mission Services mission, values and standards
  • Work safely in accordance with Mission Services health and safety policies and procedures, identify any health and safety concerns, and report any concerns to management
  • Adhere to a strict confidentiality policy
  • Other duties as required to ensure continuation of services
