About The Position

Primary responsibilities include providing outpatient substance use and gambling disorder services to individuals seeking treatment and support. Duties include conducting comprehensive alcohol, drug, and gambling evaluations; developing individualized treatment plans; providing individual and group counseling; facilitating multi-family group sessions; conducting family conferences; and delivering educational presentations to clients and community organizations. Services may be provided at the Watertown office or, when feasible, at locations throughout the agency's six-county service area.

Requirements

  • Eligibility for certification in South Dakota is required.
  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Human Services/Drug and Alcohol field.
  • Demonstration of strong communication skills, including assertiveness, empathy, and crisis management.
  • Possession of a valid South Dakota Driver’s License.
  • Access to Electronic Personal Health Information (EPHI).
  • Compliance with HSA policies and procedures that apply to protected information and security.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification by South Dakota Counselor Certification Board is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts intake assessments and comprehensive evaluations for individuals referred to Human Service Agency with potential alcohol, drug, and/or gambling-related concerns.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and updates treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation.
  • Provides individual counseling services.
  • Facilitates group counseling and therapy sessions.
  • Provides crisis intervention services for assigned clients and individuals seeking immediate assistance.
  • Coordinates discharge and aftercare planning, including developing aftercare plans with clients, facilitating discharge planning meetings, and making referrals to self-help groups, community resources, and other professional services as appropriate.
  • Participates in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of agency programs and clinical services.
  • Delivers educational presentations, lectures, and psychoeducational programming as part of prevention, treatment, and community outreach efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that are consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
