About The Position

Evergreen Treatment Services (ETS) is seeking an Addiction Treatment Nurse, RN to join their team. ETS has been dedicated to transforming lives through innovative addiction and social services in Western Washington for over 50 years. This role is crucial in providing lifesaving services to patients, offering compassionate and nonjudgmental care. The position is full-time and onsite, involving work at the Seattle clinic, South King County Clinic, and ETS’ Mobile Units. The schedule is Monday through Saturday, 5 AM to 3 PM, with rotating Saturday shifts required. Candidates must be available for 40 hours/week, 5 days/week within this schedule. The role emphasizes racial equity, health equity, and community justice, serving vulnerable community members.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse License (RN)
  • Healthcare CPR/AED & First Aid (BLS)
  • Completion of a state-approved nursing program: Associate, Bachelor, or master's degree in nursing.
  • Passed the NCLEX-RN exam.
  • Understanding of racial justice and social equity, and a commitment to creating an equitable environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload, work independently, and complete tasks timely and efficiently.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills in clinical problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Dependable, able to work under pressure, receptive to change, willing to learn, and cooperative approach to problem solving.
  • Flexible team player with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling highly sensitive information.
  • Ability to set boundaries, resolve conflict, and de-escalate issues.
  • Computer literate, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High level of initiative in keeping current with technological change.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care using the nursing process, ensuring a compassionate and supportive experience for all patients.
  • Prepare and dispense medications as ordered by a medical provider, evaluating and documenting their effectiveness and any adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director, Associate Medical Director, or Medical Providers for patient care, medication orders, or clarification.
  • Promote health and wellness, and provide patient education.
  • Utilize verbal and physical de-escalation techniques to manage behaviorally escalated/aggressive patients.
  • Perform testing services such as Breathalyzers and Drug Testing.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Complete patient medication callbacks.
  • Promote person-centered care through shared decision-making, respecting patient values and preferences.
  • Integrate culturally responsive care and inclusiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal and external multidisciplinary teams to provide nursing consultation and guidance.
  • Promote person-centered and trauma-informed care using non-stigmatizing principles and language.
  • Strictly adhere to universal or standard infection control precautions.
  • Follow ETS policies and procedures for responding to patient emergencies, including contacting 911, 988, or local crisis numbers.
  • Be familiar with informed consent policies at ETS.
  • Facilitate the continuity of care during transitions of care.
  • Comply with regulations regarding adverse events and incident reporting.
  • Adhere to relevant legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control plans.
  • Perform mandatory reporting as required by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide safe, competent nursing care, assessing safety and risk, and taking appropriate crisis intervention measures.
  • Act as a patient advocate in health maintenance and clinical care.
  • Follow all policies and procedures regarding patient confidentiality, including mental health and alcohol-drug patient confidentiality (42 CFR) and HIPAA (45 CFR).
  • Manage and account for controlled substance inventories during each shift.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping for all controlled substances and associated records.
  • Participate in internal regulatory audits (DEA, DOH, PQAC, SAMHSA, SOTA, etc.).
  • Submit Qstatim reports if indicated, attend care team meetings, and participate in developing corrective action plans.
  • Participate in departmental and interdepartmental care team meetings and staff meetings, providing updates.
  • Provide new hire staff training as assigned.
  • Adhere to all ETS policies and procedures.
  • Foster a learning environment for patients, the nursing team, and other healthcare team members.
  • Accountable for safety, identifying and correcting problems, and integrating evidence and best practice into nursing care.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and practice to the top of license.
  • Promote a culture of inquiry that explores, integrates, and disseminates research and evidence-based practice.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including DEA and DOH requirements, and ETS’ Diversion Control Plan.
  • Perform mandated reporting by mobile units as required by the State Opioid Treatment Authority (SOTA).
  • Support the mission and teams with all other duties assigned.
