About The Position

AWS CloudWatch is seeking engineers who are passionate about troubleshooting technical issues, automating manual processes, and continuously improving service efficiency to enhance customer experience. In this role, you will support CloudWatch Monitoring and CloudWatch Logs services in specialized security regions. You'll work in a dynamic environment with our software development teams to deliver reliable services to our customers. AWS CloudWatch provides customers actionable visibility into the health of their applications and systems. Key features include web services for submission and retrieval of measurements, a console for presentation, and the ability to notify and automate based on metrics. Teams in CloudWatch solve problems of massive telemetric data scale, distributed systems, data visualization, and operational workflow. This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that, after start, the selected candidate maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma, or A+ or CND (Certified Network Defender) or Network+ or Security+
  • 1+ years Linux systems administration experience
  • 1+ years technical troubleshooting / support experience
  • 1+ years of networking experience
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
  • Linux command line and bash or Python scripting in large-scale environments
  • Solid understanding of networking and distributed systems concepts
  • Enthusiasm for technical deep-dives
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize complex work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with distributed systems at scale
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and web services
  • Experience with systems administration on either Linux/UNIX or Windows operating systems

Responsibilities

  • Analyze defined projects and break down the work to help define milestones and success criteria
  • Identify when implementations lack high availability or contain defects; investigate systemic patterns
  • Resolve, mitigate, or escalate operational concerns in a timely manner
  • Support the operational stability of CloudWatch and CloudWatch Logs services in ADC environments
  • Investigate the root cause of a customer issue impacting CloudWatch service visibility
  • Analyze metric trends to identify performance degradation or capacity concerns
  • Collaborate with the team on automation opportunities for common operational tasks
  • Participate in on-call rotations, responding to service alerts and customer issues
  • Dive deep into logs and metrics to understand system behavior and dependencies
  • Discuss and implement improvements to teams operational processes
