About The Position

The Adaptive Programs Coordinator provides visionary leadership for the YMCA's Adaptive Afterschool, Summer Camp, Holiday Camp, and future adaptive recreation initiatives. This position is responsible for developing innovative programs, building community partnerships, supporting fundraising and grant opportunities, mentoring staff, and expanding inclusive opportunities for children and teens with diverse abilities throughout South Palm Beach County.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a related field preferred. Equivalent education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience working with children, teens, or adults with diverse abilities preferred.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification, or the ability to obtain certification within the required timeframe.
  • Valid Florida driver's license meeting YMCA driving standards.
  • Ability to safely operate a YMCA 14-passenger vehicle.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated patience, professionalism, and the ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and actively participate in indoor and outdoor program activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely supervise participants by maintaining appropriate visual, auditory, and verbal awareness at all times.
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone, and other office equipment requiring manual dexterity.
  • Ability to remain calm, follow detailed instructions, and respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Must successfully complete a Level II criminal background screening.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
  • Florida DCF 40-Hour Introductory Child Care Training preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow Adaptive Afterschool, Summer Camp, Holiday Camp, and future adaptive programming.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, coach, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
  • Build meaningful relationships with participants, parents, caregivers, and community partners through proactive communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with YMCA, DCF, transportation, and risk management standards.
  • Coordinate transportation, field trips, and special events.
  • Develop new adaptive recreation, educational, wellness, and life-skills programs.
  • Evaluate existing programs using enrollment trends, participant feedback, and measurable outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Association Development team by providing program data, participant success stories, measurable outcomes, and operational support for grant applications and grant-funded initiatives.
  • Support the YMCA Annual Campaign and other fundraising initiatives by sharing participant impact stories, participating in donor engagement opportunities, and assisting with special events.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring department budgets while identifying opportunities for sustainable program growth.
  • Represent the YMCA throughout the community to develop partnerships and expand adaptive programming.
