About The Position

Founded by educators with a deeply held desire to bridge the growing resource gap between schools and the populations they serve, PSE's network of credentialed professionals is available to districts locally as well virtually, to provide comprehensive and tailored services to students and their families. In addition to pioneering virtual special education services, PSE has also developed several progressive student programs including enrichment workshops, multi-day mainstreaming events, and unique support groups like the wildly successful Girl Talk. PSE also works with schools to develop customized programming for students and staff. Since 2012, PSE has supported California communities by striving to help districts and students meet their goals of: Improving student matriculation, test results, and graduation rates Increasing inclusion and social confidence Ensuring compliance to avoid costly fines or legal action Preserving vital district resources by leveraging PSE's wide range of staff, systems, and services

Requirements

  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of student
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community
  • Ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication
  • BA/BS Degree
  • Valid California Teaching Credential in Adapted Physical Education

Responsibilities

  • Provide adapted physical education instruction to meet student needs and goals as specified on the IEP.
  • In physical fitness, gross motor skills, perceptual motor skills, and sports and games achievement
  • Provide individualized assessment and instruction in neuromotor development, gross motor skills and abilities, physical fitness, games and sports, and other recreation and leisure activities
  • Provide consultation and training to parents and staff regarding adapted physical education techniques
  • Document student progress and present levels of performance by standardized, formal, curriculum-based, anecdotal and/or teacher made assessments
  • Seek technical assistance and consultation as needed from colleagues, program support specialists, and Special Education Leadership Team
  • Other duties as assigned
