Learn more about Human Resources Management: https://www.calstatela.edu/hrm About the role: As the ADA / Leaves Coordinator, you will report directly to the Benefits Manager and serve as a key subject-matter resource within Human Resources for disability accommodations and employee leave programs. In this role, you will act as the primary facilitator of the ADA interactive process, partnering closely with faculty, staff, and campus stakeholders to ensure fair, compliant, and timely outcomes. You will coordinate and oversee the Leave of Absence program, balancing regulatory requirements with thoughtful communication and problem-solving in often sensitive situations. This position also provides analytical support to the Benefits Manager on complex cases, policy interpretation, and process improvement, helping ensure the University remains compliant with federal, state, and CSU requirements while delivering a positive employee experience. The anticipated salary range for this position is $55,176–$80,136 annually based on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution or equivalent experience
  • Administrative experience involving analysis, evaluation, or improvement of policies, procedures, or programs
  • Working knowledge of the ADA interactive process and federal/state leave laws
  • Experience conducting research, data analysis, and preparing reports
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to: Interpret and apply complex policies and collective bargaining agreements
  • Work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Build effective working relationships across diverse groups
  • Perform effectively under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary facilitator of the ADA interactive process
  • Evaluate accommodation requests and ensure timely, compliant outcomes
  • Consult with the Benefits Manager on complex or sensitive cases
  • Ensure compliance with ADA, CFRA, PDL, CSU Family Leave, and related laws
  • Oversee and administer the Leave of Absence program
  • Coordinate multiple leave types and benefits, including:
  • Non-Industrial Disability Insurance (NDI)
  • Catastrophic Leave
  • Parental Leave
  • Military Leave
  • Educate and counsel employees on leave eligibility, timelines, and requirements
  • Ensure adherence to applicable policies, contracts, and mandated deadlines
  • Conduct research and analytical studies related to leave and accommodation programs
  • Prepare reports, documentation, and performance metrics
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure audit readiness
