About The Position

The Acute Rehabilitation Manager oversees the daily operations of an inpatient rehabilitation unit within an acute care hospital. This role ensures high-quality patient care, efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and effective supervision of clinical staff.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree required or must be obtained within two years
  • Active clinical license (PT, OT, SLP, RN, or related field)
  • 3–5+ years of inpatient or acute rehab experience
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience with audits (internal or external)
  • Leadership and team management
  • Clinical knowledge of rehabilitation services
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and documentation standards

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day operations of the acute rehabilitation unit
  • Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and census management
  • Ensure efficient patient flow and appropriate resource utilization
  • Monitor quality of care and patient outcomes
  • Ensure implementation of individualized treatment plans
  • Promote evidence-based rehabilitation practices
  • Compliance with the “3-hour rule”, therapy intensity requirement in Inpatient rehabilitation Unit
  • Appropriate patient selection and continued stay reviews
  • Supervise therapists, nursing staff, and support personnel
  • Manage staffing schedules and productivity standards
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, accreditation bodies)
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 coding basics and medical necessity criteria for rehabilitation admissions
  • Maintaining policy and procedure updates
  • Work closely with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Participate in care planning and discharge coordination
  • Ability to track and improve functional outcomes, readmissions rates, infection rate, and patient satisfaction
