The Inpatient Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in accordance with company policies and procedures, FMCNA compliance programs, and contracted hospitals’ policies and procedures. The role provides inpatient renal replacement and apheresis care across modalities including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, ultrafiltration, and apheresis. The nurse partners with hospitals to deliver quality care and a positive patient experience. The role works under limited supervision and includes assessing patients, selecting and delivering prescribed treatment techniques, monitoring responses, and making appropriate adjustments to the treatment plan as indicated by a credentialed physician. The nurse coordinates care with physicians, hospital staff, and facility nursing personnel; documents treatments and patient responses; and supports safe operation, testing, calibration, and disinfection of dialysis and related equipment. The position also provides supervision and education to patient care technicians, clerical staff, and ICU staff, and may be assigned to in-center patient care as needed. The position requires travel between assigned hospitals and facilities and to regional meetings or educational events. It includes an on-call rotation covering days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and may involve exposure to infectious materials and contagious diseases. Direct patient care regularly involves moving patients or equipment weighing more than 200 pounds with assistance, as well as lifting chemical and water solutions weighing up to 30 pounds to a height of five feet. Employees must take the Ishihara Color Blindness test as a condition of employment; failing the test does not preclude employment, and reasonable accommodations may be considered.
