Acute Care Tech - PD
About The Position
The Acute Care Tech assists with patient care and treatment under the direction of the nurse manager or designee, such as an RN or physician, consistent with the individual’s training and scope of certification or licensure. The role is per diem/on call, has a 0.01 FTE, and varies as scheduled. Two positions are available. Duties include responding to call lights; bathing, dressing, and feeding patients; serving and collecting food trays; transporting patients and helping them walk; turning and repositioning patients; recording vital signs and food and fluid intake and output as directed; and performing assigned housekeeping and stocking duties. The technician also prepares patient rooms for admissions and assists nurses with patient discharges.
Requirements
- Graduate of a medical assistant program (preferred) or completion of a CNA training program (required).
- BLS and CNA, or MA-C.
- Previous patient care tech experience (stated as required).
Nice To Haves
- Six months of acute care experience.
- Bilingual Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Answer patient call lights.
- Bathe, dress, and undress patients.
- Serve and collect food trays and assist patients who need help eating.
- Transport patients within the facility using wheelchairs or wheeled carts, or assist patients to walk.
- Turn and reposition patients, independently or with assistance.
- Obtain and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and food and fluid intake and output as directed.
- Perform assigned housekeeping duties.
- Stock linens in patient rooms and supplies such as IV and blood draw kits.
- Prepare patient rooms for admissions.
- Assist nurses with patient discharges.
