Acute Care Tech - Per Diem
About The Position
Under the direction of the nurse manager or designee, i.e., RN, Physician, this individual assists in the care and treatment of patients consistent with training and scope of certification and/or licensure. Responsibilities include answering call lights, bathing, dressing and undressing patients, serving and collecting food trays, and feeding patients requiring help. The role involves transporting patients within the facility using wheelchairs, wheeled carts, or assisting patients to walk. This position also includes turning and repositioning patients, obtaining and recording vital signs and intake/output, performing housekeeping duties, stocking linens and supplies, preparing patient rooms for admission, and assisting nurses with patient discharges.
Requirements
- Graduate of medical assistant program (preferred) or CNA training program required
- BLS and CNA, or MA-C
Nice To Haves
- Previous patient care tech experience
- 6 months Acute Care experience
- Bilingual Spanish
Responsibilities
- Answering call lights
- Bathing, dressing and undressing patients
- Serving and collecting food trays
- Feeding patients requiring help
- Transporting patients within facility using wheelchairs, wheeled carts, or assisting patients to walk
- Turning and repositioning patients alone or with assistance
- Obtaining and recording temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respirations and food and fluid intake and output as directed
- Performing housekeeping duties as assigned
- Assisting with stocking linens in patient rooms and stocking supplies such as IV/blood draw kits
- Preparing patient room for admit
- Assisting the nurse with patient discharges
