About The Position

The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner works in Electrophysiology/Cath Lab and provides patient care throughout screening, preparation, treatment, and discharge. The role takes patient histories, performs physical examinations and daily rounds, develops and communicates plans of care, writes orders, interprets test results, and coordinates care with physicians and other healthcare providers. It also documents discharge information and provides patients with post-discharge instructions. EP experience is preferred.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program.
• National Board Certification in the specialty area.
• Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
• Collaborative practice agreement with designated protocols filed with the NYS Department of Education, or collaborative relationship attestation under the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act 2015.
• Current BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Electrophysiology (EP) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Initiate, document, and communicate plans of care; follow up to ensure patients are completely screened and prepared.
• Perform daily patient rounds.
• Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
• Interpret laboratory and test results.
• Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to support quality patient care.
• Document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals in patient charts.
• Inform patients of necessary post-discharge care instructions.
• Perform related duties as required.
