About The Position

Wellstar is recruiting for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our established and growing Neurosurgical practice. This position is a mix of clinic and in-patient rounding. Schedule is a day shift position working 4, 10 hour days a week, with a 1 in 6 weekend rotation.

Requirements

  • Must hold an ACNP or AG-ACNP certification or Physician Assistant OR experience
  • ACLS/BLS required
  • NIHSS and Modified Rankin certified

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Neurosurgery experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform first OR assist duties approximately two days a week.
  • Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations and record data in patient's medical record in ambulatory practice.
  • Clinical responsibilities require thorough attention to detail.
  • Evaluate and treat patients to achieve optimal patient care.
  • Write progress notes; prepare patient work-ups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
  • Develop plans of care that minimize complications and successfully troubleshoot problems when they arise.
  • Apply preventative and alternative treatment strategies for possible procedural complications.
  • Complete pre-op appointments for all surgical patients, work with supervising physician to ensure all required labs, clearances and testing is satisfactorily complete well before surgery.
