About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Department of Critical Care Medicine on the Phoenix campus. This role involves working within diverse care teams, providing care for a wide variety of patients in a high acuity, dynamic, and collaborative ICU. The NP/PA will rotate through day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts with the Medical ICU and Multidisciplinary ICU teams, caring for both medical and surgical patients requiring ICU level of care. This includes patients with cardiac/heart failure, cardiothoracic surgery, ECMO, neurology, neurosurgery, hematology/oncology, bone marrow transplant, comfort care/end-of-life, and solid organ transplant. The NP/PA will partner with the intensivist to assess, diagnose, and treat patients, perform procedures within their scope of practice, and manage acutely deteriorating, unstable, and critically ill patients. Maintaining ACLS and BLS certification is required for responding to cardiopulmonary arrests and participating in Code Blue and Rapid Response Teams. The role also supports Mayo Clinic's three shields by participating in patient care, education, and research, and playing a key role in quality improvement projects, subcommittees, and workgroups.

Requirements

At least 2 years experience working as a Critical Care NP or PA and/or a post-graduate NP or PA fellowship or residency with Critical Care training required.
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program.
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as an ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
Physician Assistant: Current PA certification by NCCPA.
Physician Assistant: Registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at state date.
DEA registration required.
Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs.
Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

Nice To Haves

Strong computer skills in an Electronic Medical Record preferred.

Responsibilities
