About The Position

GPW and Associates, a Beyond Risk affiliate company, is seeking an actuarial intern for the Summer of 2027. This role involves contributing to an experienced actuarial team in a collaborative environment. The intern will enhance their actuarial skills through diverse tasks such as reviewing and visualizing insurance data, and supporting loss reserving and pricing analyses for clients. The learning objectives include understanding actuarial reserving methods, assisting in the development of loss reserve projections, and developing a toolkit of a modern actuary with skills in data processing using SQL, data visualization, and data analysis using Excel/VBA, Python, and R. The intern will also work with a mentor to develop a capstone project focused on extending actuarial capabilities at GPW and present this project to senior members at GPW. GPW specializes in serving the risk management needs of over 4,000 clients, offering a unique combination of captive and reinsurance management, accounting, tax compliance, and actuarial services. GPW's actuarial services include pricing, reserving, and product development for various insurance coverages.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or Graduate Student in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
• Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Working knowledge of database programming
• Statistical knowledge
• Ability to communicate effectively

Nice To Haves

• High GPA preferred
• Successful completion of 1 or more actuarial exams
• Excel and VBA experience preferred
• SQL experience preferred
• Programming skills in R and/or Python preferred
