About The Position
The Actuarial Intern performs data analysis and conversion to support projects for the Actuarial Team in Crum & Forster’s Surplus & Specialty division. The intern works under the close supervision and direction of actuaries. The role is based in Morristown, New Jersey, with a hybrid work arrangement, and is for Summer 2027. Crum & Forster provides specialty and standard commercial lines insurance products. Its Surplus & Specialty division develops customized coverage for complex exposures, difficult-to-insure risks, and niche market segments. The company has more than 2,000 employees, and its Surplus & Specialty division has more than 850 employees across the United States and India. The ideal candidate is pursuing a relevant undergraduate or graduate degree, has completed at least one actuarial exam, and has SQL experience. The position calls for strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one actuarial exam.
- Experience with SQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Highly motivated with a go-getter personality.
Nice To Haves
- College juniors are preferred; sophomores will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze actuarial data.
- Automate and migrate current SQL processes to a new environment.
- Build actuarial reports and tools to support group needs.
