About The Position

This internship involves assisting in the use of mathematical techniques and models to test rate levels for profitability and provide statistical justification for rate revisions. The intern may also be called upon by members of the Underwriting Department to work on projects.

Requirements

• Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics major required with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Must be able to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations, instructions, manuals and other documents as required.
• Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills are required.
• Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
• Must possess personal computer skills to include: experience with Windows, word processing, internet and proficiency with Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in using mathematical techniques and models to test rate levels for profitability.
• Provide statistical justification needed to revise rates.
• Work on projects as requested by members of the Underwriting Department.
