About The Position

The Core Specialty Actuarial team is seeking to expand its Actuarial Pricing function. This individual contributor role will primarily support the Marine, Surety, and Aviation & Aerospace Divisions, with additional support for the Property and Equine Divisions as needed. The role will focus on evaluating the adequacy of pricing for the existing portfolio, developing and maintaining diagnostic tools, and providing actuarial subject matter expertise to key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field with a strong mathematical background.
  • 2 or more years of relevant experience.
  • 4 or more CAS exams completed.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the development of new rating tools and supports existing rating tools.
  • Assists with premium budgeting and loss ratio planning.
  • Supports pricing of new and existing programs and product lines, including technical pricing, expected loss ratios, indicated capital utilization, and reinsurance analytics.
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports, synthesizing and shaping key messages.
  • Supports rate filings as requested.
  • Applies fundamental actuarial principles to analyze company and industry data for actuarial analyses.
  • Prepares and may present summaries of actuarial analyses to business partners and senior leadership.
  • Participates in the development and documentation of actuarial department processes.
  • Prepares for and progresses in the CAS examinations through on-the-job and home study.
  • May undertake other related duties as reasonably required by the Company.
