About The Position

Milliman’s Atlantic Region Property and Casualty (P&C) practice provides actuarial consulting services across the insurance, reinsurance, insurance-linked securities (ILS), and alternative-risk markets. We serve a diverse clientele including self-insured corporations, commercial insurance companies, governmental agencies, risk pools, and financial investors. Utilizing Milliman products and proprietary tools, we lead actuarial practice in our niches, offering trusted partnership and advice to enhance financial well-being. The practice is a cohesive group working collaboratively across multiple locations. Team members engage in a variety of client projects, supported by an integrated project structure that fosters interaction among all team members, from Analysts to Principals. While primary work is within the practice, assignments with other Milliman offices globally are also common. We recognize the broad applicability of actuarial skills in both traditional and developing areas, and are committed to nurturing actuarial talent and future firm leaders through exam support and mentorship from senior colleagues.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two actuarial exams passed at the time of application, and in pursuit of an Associate credential from the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • Up to two years of professional actuarial fulltime work experience in pricing, reserving, predictive modeling, capital modeling, enterprise risk management, and/or reinsurance-related actuarial topics for North American and/or European companies.
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree or higher at the time of application, including quantitative coursework in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, etc.
  • Proven proficiency with Excel and Word.
  • Strong critical thinking, technical, and analytical skills.
  • Superb attention to detail and dedication to technical accuracy.
  • The ability to work collaboratively and organize various client needs simultaneously across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, willing to put in extra effort when required by our clients.
  • The ability and willingness to clearly articulate questions and ideas.
  • Clearly demonstrated leadership and creative thinking abilities.
  • Intellectual curiosity about the topics of risk, Milliman, and the work of our practice.
  • Enthusiasm for producing high-quality, professional work with accuracy and integrity.
  • Self-starter, with excellent time management skills including collaboration across time zones.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for any immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future.
  • Must be able to start working fulltime within 4 weeks of an accepted offer.

Nice To Haves

  • Supplemental programming, statistical, and database skills are highly valued and will open up additional opportunities for impactful client assignments and advancement.
  • Three or more passed actuarial exams on the CAS credentialing track.
  • Expertise with statistical and modeling tools such as R, Python, @Risk, VBA, SAS, STATA, etc.
  • Working knowledge of supplemental database and professional working tools such as Access and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Execute key analyses for ongoing projects autonomously and with project members.
  • Produce high-quality analytical work.
  • Perform complex data manipulation and summarization in Excel.
  • Pursue credentials with the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) by taking and passing actuarial examinations.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and strong communication skills in all internal and external interactions.
  • Contribute to the success of a project and succeed as a team.
