About The Position

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Actuarial Division as an Actuarial Analyst. The position is responsible for creating pricing plans to help us accomplish our growth and profitability objectives. This role offers a merit-based work-from-home program, allowing flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week after initial in-person training. All candidates must have the ability to work in our home office in Lansing, Michigan from time to time. We are not currently hiring fully remote positions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or another related technical field is required.
• High aptitude for mathematics and actuarial sciences
• Experience with Microsoft SQL, R, or other programming/database/statistical languages
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to adapt to constant change and innovation
• Ability to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship is a requirement.

Nice To Haves

• Actuarial exams are considered but not required

Responsibilities

• Evaluate frequency, severity, and premium trends for purposes of projecting future losses based on historical loss data.
• Become familiar with using and understanding insurance manuals and principles.
• Organize and provide management with reports to aid in decision making.
• Effectively communicate with other employees through verbal and written means.
• Participate in both formal and informal training sessions.
