About The Position

As a co-op/intern student at BMO, you will have the opportunity to be heard, keep growing and make a difference. Supports the delivery of actuarial financial reporting and regulatory reporting processes, with a focus on year-end activities. Assists in the preparation, validation, and analysis of reporting outputs, while contributing to a strong control and governance framework.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Progress toward actuarial exams (e.g., 1–3 exams completed is preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with actuarial systems (e.g., AXIS) or programming (VBA, Python, R) is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document and explain results.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured and deadline-driven environment.
  • Collaborative team player with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced reporting environment.
  • Only students currently enrolled in an academic program and returning to their studies will be considered for Co-op/Internship opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Supports actuarial financial and regulatory reporting processes, including IFRS 17 reporting, OSFI filings, and internal management reporting.
  • Assists with year-end reporting deliverables, including financial disclosures, audit support, and preparation of supporting documentation.
  • Extracts, compiles, and validates actuarial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reporting outputs.
  • Supports the preparation and review of model outputs and reporting files (e.g., AXIS runs, reconciliations, and reporting templates).
  • Maintains and enhances reporting trackers, controls, and documentation to ensure audit readiness and traceability.
  • Assists with audit requests by organizing supporting evidence and responding to information requests.
  • Performs data analysis and reconciliations to investigate variances and support reporting results explanations.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams (Finance, Risk, Modelling) to support timely and accurate reporting delivery.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of reporting processes, controls, and documentation standards.
  • Supports additional reporting and actuarial production activities as required.
