Actuarial Analyst II – AI and Data Transformation

VeriskJersey City, NJ
$72,600 - $90,800Hybrid

About The Position

Verisk’s Actuarial Transformation team is seeking an Actuarial Analyst II to bring strong pricing, data, and actuarial fundamentals to the development of AI-powered solutions for the property and casualty insurance industry. In this role, you’ll work at the intersection of actuarial science, data, and emerging technology, helping transform Verisk’s trusted loss costs, data, and insights into intuitive AI-enabled experiences. From natural language interfaces to agentic workflows, you’ll contribute as these capabilities evolve from early concepts into practical tools that help insurers work smarter and make more informed decisions. You’ll gain hands-on exposure across the product lifecycle, collaborate with actuarial and technical partners, and build valuable technical expertise while continuing your progress toward ACAS. Verisk's ISO loss costs and robust statistical data have empowered the P&C industry for decades. New technology promises to help insurers operationalize this data in new ways. For example, natural language chat can augment legacy reports and dashboards. Agentic workflows can help solve repetitive, manual processes. And users can take advantage of semi-structured data across multiple data sources more easily than ever. You'll play a direct role in building the pieces that make this possible for our client insurers. Achieving this reality requires thoroughness, care, and good actuarial fundamentals that the insurance industry demands. We've already proven this is possible: we recently launched an MCP connector exposing our underwriting intelligence. You'll join at a stage where the roadmap is being actively built out, giving you visibility into how a new product area takes shape from early proof points to steady delivery of value.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related major.
  • 1-2 years of P&C actuarial experience, ideally with exposure to pricing or underwriting functions.
  • Actively pursuing ACAS, with at least 3 exams.
  • Familiarity with actuarial software and tools (e.g., R and/or Python, SQL, Excel).
  • Strong learning agility and willingness to work independently on well-scoped tasks while knowing when to ask for guidance.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and non-standardized processes; eagerness to learn from complex, diverse datasets.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to teammates.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ISO loss costs and/or ISO data products is a plus.
  • Interest or experience in generative AI tools is a plus; candidates should be able to speak to how they've used AI on or off the job.

Responsibilities

  • Support the AI & data transformation roadmap for ISO loss costs and related data, helping scope tasks and track progress against deliverables.
  • Help design and build actuarial workflows and data logic for AI-facing and customer-facing tools. You'll apply your growing actuarial knowledge to help ensure the "intelligence" behind our AI tools is accurate and useful.
  • Assist in testing and validating new components and automation, helping identify where solutions add real value versus where they need refinement.
  • Collaborate with operational and technical teams to understand how our data assets are built and how they connect to customer-facing infrastructure.
  • Take ownership of well-defined pieces of larger projects, with support and mentorship from your manager as you build toward greater independence.
