Requirements

  • Possesses a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business, Economics, or any other relevant field.
  • Possesses six or more years of relevant experience in actuarial work or in a similar role.
  • Is a member of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA/ACIA) or is actively pursuing actuarial certification, with demonstrable exam progress.
  • Is recognized for excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Stands out for their ability to see the big picture, question solutions, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills, adapting messaging to different audiences.
  • Is known for strong organization, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
  • Brings solid time‑management skills and can manage multiple assignments under pressure.
  • Is proficient with quantitative tools: advanced spreadsheets, databases, mathematical software, and programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in actuarial‑related strategic decisions for the iA Special Markets division.
  • Monitor developments in the Canadian actuarial landscape and coordinate implementation of changes with iAQ Corporate Actuarial.
  • Review and provide insights on the division’s financial results.
  • Perform or review corporate actuarial tasks such as capital calculations, FCT projections, and Appointed Actuary reporting.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of product features and pricing models.
  • Assess new sales opportunities and support proposals and agreements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with reinsurance partners and Third‑Party Administrators (TPAs).
  • Negotiate and review reinsurance treaties and TPA agreements, review related reports, and recommend changes as needed.
