The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking an Activity Therapy Specialist 2 to plan, organize, conduct, and ensure the implementation of clinical adjunctive therapy programs and services for inmates assigned to residential treatment units. This role involves directing and monitoring all aspects of psychiatric patient day-to-day activities, promoting self-care and well-being, and providing direction and assistance in care, treatment, and programs to inmates. The specialist will carry out inmate or group treatment as delineated by the multidisciplinary treatment team, promote activities on and off the unit, and monitor and instruct treatment plan programs. This includes assisting inmates with personal hygiene and grooming, providing clinical lead work and work direction to lower-level specialists, and directing psychiatric inmates regarding general behavior. The role also involves escorting inmates to off-unit activities, observing and documenting inmate activities and behavior, intervening during crisis situations, assisting with subduing violent inmates, and attending to and monitoring inmates. The specialist will recognize and act on unusual or threatening conditions, prepare and maintain work-related documentation, assist in administering treatments, and facilitate treatment with appropriate interventions. Additionally, the role includes one-on-one communication with inmates, leading and participating in activities, attending interdisciplinary team meetings, reporting problems to supervisors, attending scheduled meetings, completing quality assurance monitoring, mandatory training, and performing various miscellaneous tasks as needed.
