This role plans, organizes, conducts, and ensures the implementation of a clinical adjunctive therapy program/services for inmates assigned to residential treatment units. The specialist directs and monitors all aspects of psychiatric patient day-to-day activities, promotes self-care and physical and mental well-being, and provides direction and assistance in the care, treatment, and/or programs to inmates. The role involves carrying out inmate or group treatment delineated by the multidisciplinary treatment team, promoting activities to inmates on and off the unit, and monitoring and instructing treatment plan programs. The specialist also provides clinical lead work/work direction to lower-level activity therapy specialists, escorts inmates, observes and documents inmate activities and behavior, and intervenes during crisis situations. Additionally, the role includes preparing and maintaining work-related documentation, assisting in administering treatments, facilitating treatment with appropriate interventions, conducting one-on-one communication with inmates, leading and participating in activities, attending interdisciplinary team meetings, reporting problems to supervisors, attending meetings, completing quality assurance monitoring, and performing various miscellaneous tasks as needed.
