About The Position

Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health Services, part of Aiken Regional Medical Centers, has been providing renewed hope for individuals suffering from emotional and behavioral disorders, as well as alcohol and substance use disorders since 1991. This 62-bed facility, accredited by The Joint Commission, offers comprehensive, individualized treatment services delivered by a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, clinicians, mental health technicians, and recreation therapists dedicated to high-quality care. Aiken Regional Medical Centers is a 273-bed acute care facility recognized for its treatment of various conditions. The Activity Therapist will be responsible for planning, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating therapeutic groups to meet patient treatment goals. This role involves continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling, with a requirement to document patient responses to therapeutic modalities and maintain a high standard of service excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Art, Music, or Recreation Therapy, humanities, SW, or related therapeutic discipline.
  • BLS required upon hire.
  • Certification or licensure in said activity required.
  • CPI required withing 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year minimum in psychiatric setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, implementing, facilitating, and evaluating therapeutic groups for patient involvement for treatment goals.
  • Providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.
  • Documenting patient response to therapeutic modalities.
  • Assessment of patients.
  • Planning and facilitating therapeutic activities.
  • Planning activities that are medical-based treatment programs to help maintain or improve patient's physical, social, and emotional well-being.
  • Developing, implementing, and updating treatment plans.
  • Maintaining assigned areas.
  • Ensuring safe use of recreation equipment and tracking inventory.
  • Maintaining adherence to DHEC requirements and monitoring for the swimming pool and other pertinent patient areas.
  • Making recommendations to supervisor on new activities for individuals and groups.
  • Delivering direct patient care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
  • Recommending the purchasing of supplies.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
