About The Position

To ensure that patients are assessed regarding adaptive and leisure skills; to serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team supporting the organization’s treatment program and philosophy; To provide a variety of therapeutic activities using a variety of modalities to promote knowledge, skills and attitudes that promote improved functioning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy or related field, or master’s degree in art, Music, yoga, or Dance Therapy.
  • Minimum of one year experience leading therapeutic activities or yoga instruction in a psychiatric or rehabilitation setting.
  • If a recreation therapist, the individual must maintain a North Carolina License and National Certification as a recreation therapist.
  • If a yoga instructor the individual must maintain active certification and complete all required CE’s to meet continued certification requirements.
  • Current North Carolina Driver’s License
  • Current CPR Certification
  • CPI Certification
  • Practical knowledge of the scope of adjunctive therapy assessment and techniques.
  • Demonstrated skill in assessment and treatment in adjunctive therapy for which holds specialization.
  • Ability to document quickly, clearly, accurately, and concisely.
  • Communication skills necessary to communicate to patients, team members, family members, and agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • If an art, music, or dance therapist, it is preferred that he/she is working toward certification in the field of his/her specialization.
