About The Position

The YMCA Child Care team is dynamic, supportive and growing! We are looking for energetic, active, responsible, and caring individuals to lead high-quality program planning, incorporating the Y’s values. This role involves maintaining safety and supervision in accordance with provincial licensing requirements and standards, building healthy relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, and actively interacting with children ages 5-12 as a play partner. The position supports the implementation of play-based educational programming, including interactive play, literacy, mathematics, science, building, drama, games, team building, daily physical activity, and sports. Participants will also engage in YMCA of Southern Interior BC community initiatives.

Requirements

Must be 19 years of age (as per provincial licensing standards) or hold a provincial ECE Assistant Certification
Minimum 20 hours of professional development relating to children’s health, nutrition, safety, development and/or guidance (Responsible Adult Certificate)
Experience working with school age children
Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C

Nice To Haves

Valid class 4 operator’s license

Responsibilities
