About The Position

Elderwood at Waverly is hiring full-time and part-time Activity Leaders. Activity Leaders conduct recreational programs that help residents stay energized, engaged, mentally stimulated, and socially connected. The role assists the Director of Activities with planning and carrying out the activity program, supporting individual resident activities, and maintaining program records, supplies, and community contacts.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid New York driver's license and clean driving record required.
• Ability to develop good relationships with staff, volunteers, families, and visitors.
• Ability to inspire and motivate others, create a warm and accepting climate for residents, and adapt or modify activities to meet residents' needs.
• Understanding of residents' rights and needs.
• Physical stamina for constant activity.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Activities in planning and carrying out the activity program.
• Approach residents on assigned units to plan individual recreational and social activities, and report resident response and cooperation to the Director of Activities.
• Prepare resident information for the Director of Activities to use in care planning and documentation; write progress notes as assigned.
• Help develop and maintain good contacts with community resources to improve the activities program.
• Maintain the department's inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Maintain attendance records and prepare other required reports.
