About The Position

The Activity Leader/Driver is responsible for assisting participants with activities of daily living (ADL), managing the food service, conducting group and individual activities, and transporting participants to and from the Center. This role involves devising monthly program activities, presenting them, and conducting them, as well as providing input and support to the Activities Director. The position also includes assisting with food preparation and serving, accompanying participants on field trips, and providing direct personal care assistance. A key responsibility is driving participants to and from the Center in company vehicles, observing them for changes in condition, and contributing to a safe and clean environment. Maintaining client confidentiality and attending staff meetings are also essential functions.

Requirements

  • GED or high school diploma.
  • Two or more years of experience working with seniors and/or adults with functional impairments.
  • Current Class C/non-commercial driver’s license in good standing (annually reviewed).
  • Current CPR and First Aid.
  • Ability to deal with and manage physical and cognitive impairments of participants boarding and exiting the vans.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with participants, families, care providers, employees, colleagues, community referral sources, and the general community.
  • Ability to follow instructions quickly and easily with minimal supervision, and seek out direction promptly.
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
  • Aware of potential hazards or problems within the environment and seek out supervision promptly.
  • Report issues, successes, and concerns promptly to Activity Director.
  • Work as a team member with Center Management.
  • Work collaboratively with all center staff.
  • Aware of confidentiality of client information.

Responsibilities

  • Devise monthly program activities utilizing staff and community resources.
  • Present to the Plan and conduct group and individual activities.
  • Provide input and support to the Activities Director.
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of snacks.
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of lunch.
  • Assist Activities Director with field trips (planning, accompanying, and driving).
  • Assist participants with Activities of Daily Living (toileting, ambulation, transfers, feeding, changing clothes, showers).
  • Assist participants boarding and exiting vans.
  • Observe participants for change in condition and report to the Health Director.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the Center’s neat, clean, and safe environment.
  • Attend and meaningfully contribute to regular Center Staff meetings and activity staff meetings.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Act as a Driver to provide transportation for participants to and from the Center in Easterseals vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
