About The Position

The Activity Director at Avamere Riverpark is responsible for developing and implementing engaging activity programs for residents in a skilled nursing setting. This role involves creating a monthly calendar of activities, coordinating with external vendors, participating in community events, and ensuring resident participation and well-being. The position requires strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment for residents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum two years of experience in an activities, social or recreation program, or similar experience working in a healthcare setting Long Term Care.
  • Requires an Activity Director Certification (ADC) from the National Certification Council for Activities Professionals (NCCAP) and maintains certification while employed.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Knowledge and experience caring for and interacting with residents of this nature.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Must maintain and have an active CPR/BLS during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education preferred.
  • Prefer experience in long term care, geriatric rehab, sub-acute and or critical care clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and distribute a monthly activities calendar and newsletter for residents and family members.
  • Coordinate and schedule outside vendors and presenters.
  • Participate in community event planning with the marketing staff.
  • Make routine visits to residents.
  • Ensure that all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of the services provided and indicate the resident's response to the service.
  • Perform administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc.
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary and in conjunction with resident care plans.
  • Plan, prepare and operate under the Activities budget.
  • Set up, implement, and clean up resident group and individual activities.
  • Participate in facility surveys by authorized government agencies.
  • Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
