About The Position

We are seeking a certified personal trainer to implement training programs for our clients, assess clients, compile reports, and develop their fitness levels. The personal trainer should be passionate about health, wellness, and fitness, stay updated on industry trends, and provide solutions to client fitness needs. The role requires a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to add value to a growing organization. Additionally, the Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading engaging activities and recreational programs to enhance the well-being, social interaction, and quality of life of patients and residents. This role supports therapeutic goals by encouraging participation, promoting independence, and fostering a positive, inclusive environment tailored to diverse patient populations.

Requirements

  • Personal Training Certification from an accredited body within 30 days of hire.
  • CPR Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Current driver’s license is required to travel to assigned sites.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates an extremely high level of interpersonal and communication skills, necessary to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with all.
  • Ability to issue clear and succinct verbal directions.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills.
  • A knack for conducting lessons that cater to all fitness levels.
  • Vibrant and personable disposition.
  • Ability to motivate and challenge individuals to attain their fitness-related goals.
  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, including at least one year coordinating activities preferred or 1-3 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with experience in a long-term care or behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Ability to design and lead meaningful, age-appropriate, and population-specific activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage participants and work effectively with staff.
  • Organizational skills to manage schedules, supplies, and program documentation.
  • Empathy, patience, and adaptability when interacting with individuals of varying physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Collaborative mindset to integrate activity programming with clinical care goals.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and infection control protocols in healthcare settings.

Nice To Haves

  • ACSM, ACE, NSCA certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a personal trainer is a plus.
  • College Degree preferable in the field of Exercises Science or Kinesiology.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of fitness programs.
  • Assist members in reaching individual goals.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving the goals of the organization.
  • Ensure the safety of clients during training sessions.
  • Conduct an initial assessment of clients' body measurements using multiple modalities.
  • Monitor BMI and HR on a regular basis.
  • Motivate clients who have reached a plateau in weight loss.
  • Work closely with dieticians and wellness coaches to develop multi-discipline plans.
  • Plan and facilitate individual and group activities that promote cognitive stimulation, physical movement, socialization, and emotional well-being.
  • Adapt programs to meet a variety of functional levels, interests, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to incorporate patient needs, preferences, and care plans into activity offerings.
  • Assist in developing calendars, tracking participation, and maintaining necessary supplies and equipment for activities.
  • Observe and report patient responses and engagement levels, adjusting activities as needed to ensure inclusivity and benefit.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all activity participants.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding activity programs and patient progress.
  • Provide basic patient support and supervision during activities, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Document activity participation and relevant observations in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and continuing education to enhance program quality and personal development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
