Activity Assistant (Adult Day)
About The Position
Activity Assistant - full-time 37.5 hours/week 7:45am to 3:45pm Monday through Friday Part-time and per diem positions may also be available. A place to go, people to see, things to do. At The Gathering Place, we create days filled with connection, purpose, and support. We’re looking for an Activity Assistant who brings warmth, creativity, and reliability to help make that happen. Position Overview The Activity Assistant plays a key role in creating a welcoming, engaging environment for participants. Working alongside our team, you’ll help lead meaningful activities, support daily routines, and build genuine relationships that make each day feel purposeful and enjoyable.
Requirements
- Experience in activity coordination, personal care assistance, or working with elderly/adults with disabilities preferred.
- Ability to engage and motivate participants in various activities.
- Understanding of physical and cognitive needs of older adults.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to lift up to thirty pounds.

Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and leading activities such as art, music, games, and light exercise
- Encourage participation and help each individual feel included and comfortable
- Build positive, respectful relationships with participants and team members
- Support meals, snacks, and daily routines
- Help set up and maintain clean, inviting program spaces
- Observe and communicate changes in participant needs or mood
- Contribute to special events, seasonal programming, and community outings
