About The Position

The Activity Assistant is responsible for the social, educational, and community instruction of clients with disabilities within a structured program or the community. This is a full-time position with hours ranging from 35-40 per week, typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30/8:00 AM to 3:30/4:00 PM. The role involves providing clients with instructions for program, recreation, social, and community activities, assisting them in achieving their goals, and observing their progress. It also includes caring for clients' personal needs, documenting observations, transporting clients, developing relationships, administering medication or medical procedures, maintaining the program area, recording attendance, and following safety procedures. Other duties or cross-training may be assigned to ensure program stability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid WI driver's license and a good driving record
  • Ability to commute to West Bend, WI 53090

Nice To Haves

  • Medication Administration, CPR/AED and First Aid, and Non-violent Physical Crisis Intervention training must be completed within the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clients with instructions of all program, recreation, social and community program activities.
  • Assist clients with achieving their identified goals and observe progress for each client assigned to team or program.
  • Care for the personal needs (i.e. grooming, transfers, eating, personal cares, repositioning, etc.) of clients.
  • Document and/or communicate to the Team Leader and Service Coordinator, observed progress, needs, behavioral changes, and other significant information.
  • Transport clients to community activities using agency vehicles, which include vans and mini buses.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, friends, family, and community connections and act as a good role model.
  • Administer medication or medical procedures in-house and on community experiences, as needed.
  • Provide routine cleaning, maintenance, and organization of the program area.
  • Record daily attendance of clients assigned to team or program.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
