About The Position

Allegro Fort Lauderdale is seeking a warm, creative Memory Care Activity Assistant (Lifestyle Assistant) to support life enrichment programming in our Ensemble Care (Memory Care) neighborhood. This role involves working two days a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm. The primary responsibility is to assist the Program Director Ensemble Care in providing a full-time social and activity program for all residents and families, encouraging socialization, improving daily living skills, expanding personal interests, increasing physical activity and education, and maintaining and expanding the lifestyle of all residents. Teachers, hotel hospitality professionals, and activities assistants are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age or 21 to drive the company bus
  • Valid driver's license for the state where the vehicle is operated
  • Warm, patient, and creative personality with a natural ability to connect with seniors
  • Dependable and consistent
  • High energy/enthusiasm, decision making, problem solving, planning/organization, and rapport building skills
  • Positive Criminal Background Screening
  • Acceptable Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) record; the record must be checked annually
  • Adherence to the Company Drug Free Workplace policy

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the hotel or hospitality industry
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in an ALF or senior living activities department
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in school teaching or education
  • CDL license a perk, may be required at some locations

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support engaging, person-centered activities for Memory Care residents
  • Create meaningful daily moments — music, reminiscence, sensory experiences, crafts, and social engagement
  • Build genuine relationships with residents, honoring their individual stories and abilities
  • Support a warm, stimulating environment in our Ensemble Care neighborhood
  • Assist with resident transportation and community outings as needed
  • Be a consistent, caring presence residents and families count on every Tuesday and Thursday
  • Assist the Program Director Ensemble Care in conducting and coordinating scheduled activities seven days a week for all the residents in the neighborhood(s)
  • Assist in preparing the monthly Lifestyle calendar, posting the calendar, and distributing it to all residents
  • Facilitate and support monthly resident council meetings and other meetings as directed by the Program Director Ensemble Care
  • Assist the Program Director Ensemble Care in contacting appropriate community groups and volunteers to perform specific activities and to assist in the Lifestyle programs
  • Assist in scheduling transportation for residents
  • Be prepared to drive the property vehicles on an as needed basis
  • Assessing residents’ social and lifestyle activity preferences
