About The Position

Betsy Ross Nursing & Rehab Center is seeking a qualified candidate to join their team as an Activity Aide. This is a part-time position requiring every other weekend and some holidays. The ideal candidate will be upbeat, compassionate, and possess a sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped. The Activity Aide will assist in implementing programs, engaging residents in recreational activities, and providing one-on-one visits to enhance their quality of life. This role involves direct interaction with residents, promoting participation in various activities, and ensuring their physical, mental, emotional, and social needs are met.

  • Must have good skills in working and communicating with residents.
  • Must show energy, enthusiasm, and creativity in working with residents.
  • Work well under pressure & willing to work harmoniously with all staff.
  • Sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped.
  • Possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to communicate well verbally with residents, families and staff.
  • Treat residents and fellow staff with respect, dignity, and compassion.
  • Must be able to work every other weekend and some holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with recreational therapy principles and practices; residents' rights; and facility's policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience with geriatric patients.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Implement programs including social events, outings, and regular recurring activities to meet the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs and interests of residents.
  • Promote resident participation in individual, group, or independent recreation or leisure interests.
  • Assist residents in becoming meaningfully engaged in a variety of recreation programs.
  • Assist residents with attending, moving during, and returning from activities using good body mechanics and safe transfer techniques.
  • Orient and coordinate the involvement of others who participate in facility activities.
  • Carry out regular one-to-one activities with residents and record them.
  • Keep ongoing and accurate progress notes and attendance records.
  • Assist with charting, flowsheet documentation, and other paperwork related to the recreation therapy department.
  • Maintain recreation equipment and supplies.
  • Assume responsibility for the physical set-up and break-down of rooms for activities.
  • Maintain and display artwork for decorations, internal publicity, plants, and horticulture items.
  • Assist with special department projects, including pet therapy.
