About The Position

The Activity Aide assists the Activity Director in providing activities for all residents and helps new residents and their families transition to the skilled nursing facility by welcoming them and answering questions. This position may also perform supportive functions as required by the organization. All staff must adhere to safety regulations, maintain a clean and safe department, report hazards and incidents, and wear protective equipment when handling infectious waste, blood/body fluids, or performing hazardous tasks. Participation in O’odham-Centered Care and Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts, including training, assigned roles, idea sharing, and communication of project outcomes/barriers, is also required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to six months related experience and/or training; Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPR Certification preferred or must be obtained within (3) three months of hire.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Possess the physical and mental requirements of the position as it is typically performed and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Receive list of new admits daily, visit and welcome new residents and their families.
  • Assist with transporting residents on a regular basis.
  • Represent Archie Hendricks Facility at Health Fairs and other public relations events as requested.
  • Lead Activities program on a regularly scheduled basis as assigned by the Activities Coordinator.
  • Give tours of the facility.
  • Attend (CPR)Training
  • Assist with other duties as needed.
  • Always follow all safety regulations and precautions.
  • Ensure that their department is maintained in a clean and safe manner by assuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are maintained.
  • Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to immediate Coordinator.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor/manager within 24hrs.
  • Wear protective clothing and equipment when handling infectious waste and or blood/body fluids or when doing Hazardous work i.e., working with chemicals, electrical or day to day maintenance repairs.
  • Participate in the O’odham-Centered Care - Managers/Supervisors will help staff in assisting in participating in Person Centered Care.
  • Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts of your organization.
  • Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
  • Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
  • Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization.
  • Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
  • Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude), including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in conformance with standards.
  • Fully comply with all applicable rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the facility.
