About The Position
Bourbonnais Terrace is a healthcare center dedicated to serving mental health patients, specifically adults working to rebuild their psychological health and independence. The role of an Activity Aide is crucial for the emotional well-being of patients, complementing clinical care by involving residents in a therapeutic engagement program. This includes facilitating life enrichment activities and various entertainment options to support their recovery. The center seeks candidates with a strong background in sports, culture, music, and traditional recreational activities to bring joy, structure, and stimulation to those in their care.
Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- If assigned transport (driving) responsibilities, must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the organization’s motor vehicle record and insurance eligibility requirements
- Outgoing, compassionate, and skilled at creating a welcoming environment that encourages resident involvement and participation
- Strong background in sports, culture, music, and traditional recreational activities
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience as an Activity Aide in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), or Assisted Living Facility (ALF) is strongly preferred
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) or patient documentation systems is preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead engaging group events, ranging from fitness and games to music and arts
- Lead stimulating individual cognitive and memory retention activities for our long-term residents
- Maintain accurate documentation in PointClickCare (EMR system)
- Collaborate with our health care teams to individualize your approach
- Drive and escort residents to off-site events, appointments or activities utilizing our facility van (if asked)
