The TerraceWaukegan, IL
$16 - $16Onsite

About The Position

The Terrace is a skilled nursing facility that cares for older adults who need extra support. Some of our residents are here short term to recover after surgery or illness, while others live with us long term, including those with Alzheimer’s or memory loss. Every person here depends on us, and we take that responsibility to heart. At The Terrace, you are more than a job title; you are part of a team that truly makes a difference. Your work brings dignity, comfort, and connection to the people who call The Terrace home. Kindness, reliability, and pride in your work go a long way, and you don’t need years of experience to make an impact here. Your work here changes lives. As an Activity Aide, you will involve residents in a therapeutic engagement program. You will help residents with life enrichment activities and a variety of entertainment options to help keep them engaged in their recovery programs. The company recognizes that emotional well-being is just as important as clinical care. They are seeking candidates with a strong background in sports, culture, music, and traditional recreational activities to help bring joy, structure, and stimulation to those in their care.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Outgoing, compassionate, and skilled at creating a welcoming environment that encourages resident involvement and participation
  • Strong background in sports, culture, music, and traditional recreational activities
  • If assigned transport (driving) responsibilities, must maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the organization’s motor vehicle record and insurance eligibility requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an Activity Aide in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF), Intermediate Care Facility (ICF), or Assisted Living Facility (ALF) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) or patient documentation systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging group events, ranging from fitness and games to music and arts
  • Lead stimulating individual cognitive and memory retention activities for our long-term residents
  • Maintain accurate documentation in PointClickCare (EMR system)
  • Collaborate with our health care teams to individualize your approach
  • You may be asked to drive and/or escort residents to off-site events, appointments or activities utilizing our facility van

Benefits

  • Friendly, family-like team: coworkers who support and respect one another
  • Meaningful work: Every task you do helps make someone’s day better.
  • Positive environment: A happy, welcoming place where you’re valued.
  • Growth opportunities and full benefits
