About The Position

The Activity/Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activities and volunteer programs that enhance the quality of services provided by the agency. This position recruits, trains, schedules and supervises volunteers while coordinating meaningful activities and events that support the organization’s mission and meet the needs of clients and the community. The Coordinator serves as a liaison between the agency and Volunteers America in recruiting, promoting volunteer engagement, and fostering positive relationships.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and basic database management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; oral and written
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, maintain confidentiality and work independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, clients, volunteers and community partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Human Services, Social Work, Recreation, Public Relations, or related field preferred
  • 2 - 3 years related experience working in a non-profit or human services environment preferred.
  • Experience in public relations, marketing, and social media.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Volunteer Program by developing and maintaining a comprehensive volunteer recruitment program.
  • Coordinate volunteers with Volunteers of America.
  • Maintain all required record-keeping requirements.
  • Work in close collaboration with site/center managers, to develop monthly activity schedules for all activity centers.
  • Plan, organize, participate, and facilitate recreational, music, wellness, dance, arts and crafts, social recreation and games at all Activity Centers.
  • Evaluate participants satisfaction and adjust programming as needed.
  • Represent the agency during community projects and at public, social and business gatherings.
  • Create agency content for social media platforms, promote volunteer opportunities and agency activities. keep content current
  • Secure sponsorships, reserve venues, vendor reservations, work with venue staff, direct day-of tasks and job assignments.
  • Maintain activity and volunteer databases and prepare required reports.
  • Manage activity center recreation budgets.
