About The Position

The Activities staff is responsible for assisting with the planning, organizing, developing, and directing the operation of the Activities Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the facility to assure that the our patients/residents receive activities for their emotional, social, physical and therapeutic needs.

Requirements

  • High-School Diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years experience in long term care and in the management of resident care preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the planning, developing and directing of the Activities department programs and events.
  • Assists with the activities functions to ensure activities for ambulatory, non-ambulatory and bed-bound residents.
  • Records activity programs and participation of individual residents and identifying progress toward established care plan goals.
  • Follows written activities policies and procedures.
  • Distribute monthly calendar of events and/or monthly newsletter.
  • Assist with community trips/outings.
  • Prepare room, equipment and supplies prior to each activity and clean up after the activity is completed.
  • Encourage residents and families to participate in activities.
  • Transport residents to and from activities as needed.
  • Listens and responds to resident concerns, complaints, suggestions, questions and comments.
  • Analyzes and reports results of resident satisfaction survey to residents.
  • Develops, communicates, and follows through with necessary action plans.
  • Assures that the residents’ personal and private property rights are followed by activities staff at all times.
  • Interacts with residents to ensure that quality care and positive resident/staff relations are taking place.
  • Maintains open and trust-building relationships with resident family members, responding professionally and promptly to any requests or concerns.
  • Inspects work areas and equipment at least weekly for proper order and operation.
  • Assists in patient/resident care planning by identifying the activity needs of residents and working.
  • Assist with development and implementation of a plan of correction for activities concerns/deficiencies noted in resident and family surveys.
  • Proactively maintains effective employee relations and engagement to achieve business objectives and positive morale.
  • Participate in regular meetings with key management and project teams to review status, issues & innovations.
  • Displays ability to bring others together for a common purpose and objective in positive manner to achieve desired results.
