About The Position

The main function of this position is to plan and facilitate activity programs for residents at Lake Forest Place. The job involves growing existing programs and implementing new ideas in the areas of the seven dimensions of wellness. The Activities Specialist will plan and implement activities for residents based on information from assessments, addressing resident needs and interests, and building on individual abilities and strengths while considering individual challenges. This role requires creative and innovative ideas to keep residents living at their highest possible functioning using the 7 dimensions of wellness to balance program and event offerings. The specialist will also plan and implement outings and special events, publicize programs, supervise volunteers, and gather residents for programs. Providing instruction, motivation, and assistance with programs and projects, as well as creatively marketing programs and events to encourage participation, are key aspects of the role. The position also involves purchasing necessary supplies within a budget set by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related fields or equivalent experience working with older adults.
  • Ability to work with older adults in groups and 1:1 setting
  • Knowledge of planning and implementation process for programs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with older adults and group work preferred.

  • Publicize (calendars, flyers, newsletter, Touchdown), supervises volunteers and gathers residents for programs.
  • Provide instruction, motivation and assistance with programs and projects.
  • Creatively market programs and events to motivate those residents who need extra encouragement to participate.
  • Purchase supplies as necessary for programs and projects working within a budget set by supervisor.
