About The Position

The Activities Leader is responsible for assisting in the coordination of residents, volunteers, and staff in planning and implementing programs and activities for Health Center residents. This role involves understanding and adhering to resident care plans, planning and leading activities that promote socialization and well-being, participating in activity planning meetings, encouraging resident participation, and completing necessary resident-related paperwork and attendance records. The position also involves monitoring and requesting supplies, decorating for events, assisting with activity publicity, arranging virtual video calls, and supporting volunteer orientation and pet therapy programs. The Activities Leader must complete all required training and in-services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or HSE.
  • Computer proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Minimum one year related experience.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Current CNA certification, preferred.
  • Experience working with people with dementia, desired.

Responsibilities

  • Understands and adheres to Resident Care Plans and dietary orders.
  • Assists in planning, organizing and leading activities that encourage socialization, relaxation, overall wellbeing and/or provides entertainment for all units while encouraging resident participation and promoting social exchanges between residents through modeling and participation.
  • Actively participates in activity planning meetings; including presenting a standing report of challenges, successes and recommendations for upcoming events.
  • Encourages residents to participate in activities based on known specific resident interest levels.
  • Encourages social exchanges between residents through participation.
  • Completes initial assessment upon resident admission to the Health Center and other resident-related paperwork, as assigned.
  • Maintains daily resident attendance records.
  • Ensures resident newspapers and mail is delivered daily.
  • Monitors and request for purchase equipment and supplies used for activities.
  • Decorates for events and keeps activity supplies organized.
  • Assists in publicity of activities.
  • Arranges and sets up virtual video calls according to schedule; updates list as needed.
  • Understands and follows the process/procedures related to resident outings.
  • Assists in the orientation of new volunteers; works collaboratively with same.
  • Escorts new Pet Therapy volunteers as directed.
  • Completes all required training and in-services.
  • All other duties as assigned.
