About The Position

At The Gathering Place, we create days filled with connection, purpose, and support. We’re looking for an Activities Lead who brings warmth, creativity, and reliability to help make that happen. The Activities Lead plays a key role in creating a welcoming, engaging environment for participants. Working alongside our team, you’ll lead meaningful activities, support daily routines, and build genuine relationships that make each day feel purposeful and enjoyable. This position is responsible for assisting our Program Manager in the planning and implementation of engaging daily programming for older adults and adults with disabilities. This role serves as the primary organizer of daily and special activities while working closely with participants, families, volunteers, and staff to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and included.

Requirements

  • Passionate and energetic about providing stimulating activities for older adults and adults with disabilities.
  • Comfortable working with older adults, including those living with memory loss and adults with disabilities
  • Able to work independently and be self-directed to ensure programming is set up and supplies are available as scheduled
  • Comfortable leading groups, engaging individuals and adapt activities as needed to meet the needs of participants.
  • Kind, patient, and dependable
  • A team player who can also take initiative
  • Creative, flexible, and willing to jump in where needed
  • Experience in activity coordination, personal care assistance, or working with elderly/adults with disabilities.
  • Ability to engage and motivate participants in various activities.
  • Understanding of physical and cognitive needs of older adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to lift up to thirty pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in caregiving, recreation, human services, or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Help plan and implement all program activities such as art, music, games and exercise
  • Lead activities and groups including set up, organizing supplies and clean up
  • Provide input and ideas to the Program Manager for new activities
  • Encourage participation and help each individual feel included and comfortable
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with participants and team members
  • Support meals, snacks, and daily routines
  • Help set up and maintain clean, inviting program spaces
  • Observe and communicate changes in participant needs or mood
